As for 1 July 2005, 122 credit organizations are operating in the Republic on a license basis, 43 of them are banking. The number of organizations with the right to draw inhabitants' deposits is 41, to conduct operations with foreign currency - 41, to conduct operations with precious metals - 2, to conduct operations with plastic cards - 33, to give guarantees and orders - 40. 43 banks were operating in Azerbaijan at the beginning of July, including 17 -with participation of foreign capital. The charter capital of 5 banks consists of foreign capital for 50-100%, of 10 banks - of 50%. 2 banks are branches of non-resident banks. There are 360 branches of the credit organizations, 1branch, 1 representations and 1 subsidiary bank of credit organizations - abroad. Quantity of branches of non-banking organizations is79. Total volume of charter capital of banks is 1127,8 billion mantas.
Summary charter capital of the Azerbaijan banks for 1 October, 2003 was685,4 billion mantas. 140, billion mantas (12,4%) were directed to the economy by state-owned banks, 987,8 billion mantas (87,6%) -by private banks, 339,1 billion mantas (11,0%) -by non-banking credit organizations; 448,4 billion mantas (39,2%) - by banks with participation of foreign capital, 109,3 billion mantas(9,7%) - by banks with foreign capital.

As a result of the implemented measures, along with formation before the beginning of 2000 year, of the base of regulatory -legal acts of securities market under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, the state bodies - the State Committee on securities, the National Deposit Center and the Baku Stock Exchange, regulating the market relations, were established.
At present, all main institutional elements of the securities market are functioning in the Republic, the emission of government bonds and loans is carried out, number of operations for market segmentation of securities is executed, and all the necessary measures are taken to provide dynamic development of this field.

For regulation and strengthening of the normative-legal base of auditing activity, a number of Laws and Resolutions, including the Law of Azerbaijan Republic "On Auditor's Service" are adopted. The share of foreign auditing organizations in the total volume of rendered services is 85,1%, of local auditing organizations - 10,1%, independent auditors - 4,8%.
75% of the rendered audit services belong to audit of the accounting period, 4% - reports about correct estimation of property cost, 2% - checking of book records, 19% - to other kinds of audit services are also developing in the country.

The national Insurance market in Azerbaijan has started to form since 1992. The Law of the Azerbaijan Republic "On Insurance", adopted on 5 January, 1993 for the first time in the Azerbaijan Republic, strengthened the legal bases for development of the market of national insurance.
Along with development of insurance market, a special attention in the country has been paid to improvement of the kinds of voluntary insurance, increasing of the level of insurance services, rendered to legal and natural persons. After creating national insurance market in the Republic, more than 40 normative -legal acts, regulating the activity in the field, has been adopted. At present time, 29 insurance companies are operating in the Azerbaijan Republic, of which 2 are state-owned, 19 -private, 8 -foreign. More than 40 kinds of insurance services are rendered to legal and natural persons on behalf of these companies.
